Fashion Designing Department

Fashion is prevailing all over the world. Fashion is the term beyond our imagination and it creates the wide range of opportunities in the field of creativity. In Bareilly, a hub of Zari Zardosi, embroidery work, and in a college with a high percentage of girls from minority families already involved in zari-zardosi work,. Fashion Designing as a subject in B.A. in 2004-05 and as a postgraduate subject in 2018-19 was very important step towards women empowerment. Our college was the first college under M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly to offer the subject.

Vision and Objectives of the Department
  • A fashion designing student can start a career as fashion and lifestyle journalist, fashion forecaster, trend analyst or costume designer and illustrator or be a part of any multi- national design house or apparel company
  • The Fashion Design practical education offered by the Department hones creativity while also teaching key technical skills needed to succeed in this competitive industry.
  • The specific structure of the course curriculum not only provides with the degree in Fashion Design. Focusing on both, theoretical and practical aspects, the unique design of the course covers all the important aspects of fashion industry segments. The department provides skill in designing and merchandising, beginning by instructing the students in the basics of design and fashion.
  • The department, equipped with a lab with different sewing machines, drafting table and tools, adda for zari work, textile table, dummies and mannequins etc. gives a logical, sequential, hands-on experience and enables students to conceptualize designs, make patterns, drape and construct garments.
Departmental Activities and Achievements
  • Annual Fashion show – This is organised to give an exposure to the creative expression of the budding designers of the students of Fashion Designing by providing them an apt platform to show their talent with flair and panache.
  • Exhibition-Cum-Sale at City Level: The Fashion Designing department proudly claims to have been holding city level exhibition cum sale at the Bareilly Hat – in the Bareilly Mahotsav, ‘Udyam Samagam Mela’.
  • The motto ‘Earn While You Learn’ is a hallmark feature of academics where students are trained not only for creating products, but also skilled in their marketing while dealing with real customers. Many girls are already running their own tailoring units or working as apprentice and providing financial support to their families and even financing their own education.
  • In collaboration with the NCC Unit of the college, Students of the department were given the task of stitching the NCC uniforms of the cadets in 2019-20.
  • Innovative teaching practice by means of workshops, demonstration, group discussion, seminar, presentation and e-learning session are adopted.
  • Highly competent and dedicated faculty to mentor and motivate the students
  • The faculty is regularly finding out creative and innovative method of teaching.
  • Under the Handicrafts artisan’s comprehensive welfare scheme, PAHCHAN Initiatives Ministry of handicrafts, GOI, 235 students got these Artisian Identity Cards.
