History

With the establishment of the college, UG classes started in the History subject and the postgraduate classes started in the department from 1999. The students of the department have made steady progress with the help of the skilled and qualified experienced teachers. The history department values a skilled, critically aware and informed citizen an honest academic and public engagement with the past, its meanings and its consequences for today.

The Vision of the Department

The vision of the History department is to make the students aware of the past heritage of the World and India through teaching, research and extension activities. We believe that only a critical understanding of the past will enable the students to understand the present and help them look towards the future. The History department believes that an understanding of history is essential not only to have a complete knowledge but also an awareness needed for becoming a responsible citizen. We seek to instil in students a passion for learning about the past to enable them gain a better understanding of the contemporary world and make connection to the future. The department aims to become an open and welcoming site for a robust exchange of ideas and the encouragement of scholarly excellence. We are committed to developing in students vital skills such as critical thinking, analyses verbal expression and effective writing.

Objectives
  • To mould the students into an ideal citizen who is critically informed about the past heritage, the evolution of society and nations aver time and to understand the consequences of the past actions on the present.
  • To empower students to understand the challenges of globalisation by instilling in them a life long passion for learning about the past.
  • To impart the knowledge about the interconnection between the Global, National, regional and local history.
  • To promote studies in history, society and culture of U.P in general and Rohilkhand history in particular.
Curriculum and co- curriculum:

Under the department departmental activities like essay Competition, quiz, Elocution contest. Debate competition, historical exhibition are organised for all around development in the students.
